Vermiculite was regularly used for attic insulation until the 1970s. In some cases, the vermiculite was found to contain asbestos due to a contaminated vermiculite mine. Vermiculite removal may be important to you and your family for peace of mind
Air Doctors’ vermiculite removal services ensure that all of the vermiculite and asbestos is properly removed according to the regulations. We follow the following steps to ensure complete vermiculite removal.
Vermiculite insulation was generally used in the attic. Since asbestos fibres are too small to see our testing involves taking samples of material from the attic, making sure we get to the bottom of the insulation where the asbestos fibres have fallen.
Preparation for Removal
Vermiculite removal requires expertise and special equipment as the hazard of asbestos contamination could increase during the process. This is why you should always go for professional vermiculite removal services and never attempt to do it on your own. We are fully equipped and experienced in preparing your house before proceeding. Our team ensures that you and your family stay safe even during the removal process.
The Removal Process
We use a truck with a HEPA vacuum to suck out all of the insulation in the attic. The suction hose is brought into the attic through a roof air vent. In the house, our technicians put up an enclosure in the room where the attic hatch is to ensure no cross contamination. The crew change into protective clothing behind the enclosure and then enter the attic to use the suction hose to remove the asbestos containing vermiculite.
Once we are done with the removal, we clean the area behind the enclosure and perform an air clearance test to ensure that there is no more asbestos in the attic.
Use our expert vermiculite testing and removal services to enjoy clean air and peace of mind.
